Blackburn Rovers sign Hope Knight
Blackburn Rovers ladies have signed Hope Knight from Sheffield FC on a duel registration until the end of the 2019/20 season.
Knight aged 24 is predominantly a winger but can also play in an attacking midfield roll.
She will be eligible to feature for Rovers should the FA Women’s Championship resume due to the coronavirus pandemic and Sheffield FC also have the option to call upon Knight’s services when required.
Knight netted against Rovers last season when they took on Hull City last season before returning to Sheffield for the current campaign.
Rovers are currently 7th in the Championship Table in their first season in the division 3 points ahead of basement side Charlton Athletic.
Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly told the club website “I am delighted to have signed Hope for the remainder of the season and potentially beyond.
“Although I’ve had minimal contact in person with Hope given the current situation, what I do know is that she has experience playing at the top level of Women’s football and as an England teammate of Tash Flint.
“From my initial impression of Hope, she is a determined and passionate player and wants to compete at the highest level. I’m excited to see more of her and perhaps she can do to other teams what she did to us last season, whilst playing for Hull.
“The remainder of the season will be a huge test and she’ll certainly be thrown in at the deep end but for me it’s a great way to exhibit her potential and rise to the challenge.
“I look forward to welcoming Hope to the club when we eventually get back underway.”
Rovers lost 5-1 to Sheffield United last time out in the league but the signing of Hope will strengthen the squad in the run in should the league resume again.
