Sweden 1-0 Republic of Ireland
Boyle proud of Republic of Ireland Women’s Under-16 team despite Swedish loss
The Republic of Ireland Women’s Under-16 side lost their opening match 1-0 against hosts Sweden in a UEFA Development Tournament.
Swedish striker Hanna Stokki scored the only goal two-minutes into the second-half to give the host nation an opening day win.
Speaking after the match, Under-16 Head Coach Sharon Boyle said she was delighted with her team’s performance, despite the loss.
“The performance was absolutely brilliant. One lapse in concentration in the second-half cost us. We hit the post twice in the game too, and had our chances.”
The team return to action on Monday evening against Austria, before they end their campaign on Wednesday against Turkey.
