The Brazilian Championship 2015 Draft and Second Phase Fixtures

The Brazilian Championship started on September 7 and has scheduled the finals on November 8th and 15th. Twenty teams were participating in this edition, the third organized by the CBF. In the first phase, which ended on Wednesday (23), the teams were divided into four groups of five, playing in a single round.

The top two were classified to the next stage with two groups of four and, after five rounds, the teams that will contest the second round are: Santos-SP, Rio Preto-SP, Flamengo-RJ, Adeco-SP, São José-SP, America-MG, Tiradentes-PI and Botafogo-PB.

In the second stage, the teams play each other, in roundtrip matches, and the top four will face off in the semi-final stage.

In this new phase, the teams can count on reinforcements of the permanent women’s national team. The players were drawn through a draft organized by the CBF, last Friday (25). This was the first Draft of the history of Brazilian football.

The system distributed the 20 players of the permanent national team in the eight teams qualified for the second phase of the championship.

Each team could select two players for its squad. Four of them were entitled to one more choice, with three players for these teams. Two draws were made to set both the order of choice as the teams that would have the third athlete.

The first draw established the order of choice. Pot 1 brought numbers 1-8, while Pot 2 came with the names of classified teams – thus assigned a position to each team, to be followed in the first series of choices. In the second series, the order was reversed: the eighth team was the first to draft a player.

Before the third and final series begins, another draw was made to set another order of choice. Only the first four could choose another player. The whole process was broadcasted in CBF site.

The players available were: Barbara, Andressinha, Darlene, Fabiana, Formiga, Gabi Zanotti, Géssica, Luciana, Maurine, Monica, Rafa Travalão, Rafaelle, Raquel, Tayla, Thaisa, Camila, Leticia, Andreia, Rilany and Bia.

The first player to be chosen was Raffaele Leone. The second one was Darlene, who was chosen by her mother, the representative of Rio Preto and she will be trained anything less than by her father, the Rio Preto coach.Gabi Zanotti was the third to be chosen and she will be part of the squad of Sereias da Vila in Santos. She will be teammate of Alline Calandrini and Ketlen. Formiga was the fourth choice and will be led by Emily Lima in São José. Andressinha and Camila who were teammates at the Houston Dash will continue to be teammates, but now in the Tiradentes-PI.

The Brazilian Championship is being broadcast on TV Brasil. You can watch the matches live by the official website of TV Brasil: http://tvbrasil.ebc.com.br/webtv The next match to be broadcast will be Rio Preto-SP x Flamengo-RJ, Wednesday, September 30, at 19:00 (BRA time).

Another big step for Brazil, congratulations!
One question I’d like an answer to: are the National Team players able to be traded between clubs or are they definitely going to play for the team that got them in the draft?

Well, as was informed yesterday during the draft, the teams has until monday to register the players. The four players (Travalão, Bia, Andressinha and Camila) that were in NWSL, CBF will get in touch with American Federation to regulate them so they can play as soon as possible, meaning next wednesday. So I believe will not have any trade.
