Bristol Academy sign Lauren Townsend from Cardiff City Ladies
Bristol Academy have announced their fourth signing of the transfer window as Lauren Townsend from FA Women’s Premier League club Cardiff City Ladies.
The signing of Lauren Townsend comes within seven weeks of Bristol Academy’s UEFA Women’s Champions league quarter final first leg match against Frankfurt.
The defender has been a key player for Cardiff City Ladies for the past seven years.
Dave Edmondson said on the club’s official website: “Lauren is a good technical player who can offer an attacking threat from defence. Her ability and attitude has thoroughly impressed us in training. She is a strong addition to the team, one I am looking forward to working with over the season.”
Townsend said on the club’s official website: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to Cardiff, who are a fantastic club and have been such a big part of my development as a person and player over the last 7 years. I will miss the staff, coaches and players where I have made so many good friends and would like to wish them the best of luck for the remainder of the season”.
“However, I am really excited to sign for Bristol Academy. The opportunity to play here was something I couldn’t turn down. Bristol have a fantastic set up and I am really looking forward to the new challenge and season ahead”.
