The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced this week the launch of the country’s first domestic women’s soccer league, with government-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal as its main sponsor. Brazilian state-owned bank has signed a deal with the CFB worth reportedly R$10 million (US$4.4 million) to fund the new women’s league.
The first edition of the women’s Campeonato Brasileiro will run from September 18 to December 4 and the first season will include Brazil’s top-20 ranked clubs.
