Canada host USA for an International friendly match on Sunday 2nd June 2013 at BMO Field at 16:30 local time.

It’s the rematch we have all been waiting for! Canada host USA for the first time since the heated semi-final match at the London 2012 Olympics.

The friendly will be the first game for the USWNT during the inaugural season of the NWSL. For Canada, meeting USA will be a great opportunity for the team to test itself, as Head Coach John Herdman has been busy in the first five months of 2013 creating a new identity for the team.

John Herdman selected the following squad for Canada; Karina LeBlanc, Erin McLeod, Kadeisha Buchanan, Robyn Gayle, Carmelina Moscato, Rachel Quon, Lauren Sesselmann, Rhian Wilkinson, Emily Zurrer, Kaylyn Kyle, Ashley Lawrence, Diana Matheson, Sophie Schmidt, Desiree Scott, Tiffany Cameron, Christina Julien, Christine Sinclair and Melissa Tancredi.

Tom Sermanni named a 21-Player USWNT squad to travel to Toronto; Nicole Barnhart, Ashlyn Harris, Jill Loyden, Rachel Buehler, Crystal Dunn, Whitney Engen, Julie Johnston, Ali Krieger, Kelley O’Hara, Christie Rampone, Becky Sauerbrunn, Amber Brooks, Lauren Cheney, Tobin Heath, Carli Lloyd, Kristie Mewis, Heather O’Reilly, Sydney Leroux, Alex Morgan, Christen Press and Abby Wambach.

I assume you are right if this was happening in Europe. By our culture, it is ok (actually better) that Kawasumi, a Japanese, talks to Japan defending Soyun. To the Koreans, Soyun must talk.

Canada has to hope some of those young players develop in the next 2 years, need some goal scorers besides Sinclair. All the world cup winning teams always have a great supporting cast around their superstars like Mia Hamm, Homare Sawa, Birgit Prinz…Sinclair is on their level, but she needs some more help. None of them would’ve won without players like Lilly, Chastain, Grings, Miyama, Kawasumi.
