Chelsea duo nominated for Player of the month
Chelsea duo Bethany England and Sophie Ingle have been nominated for the January player of the month award.
England was in fine form as she netted 4 times in 3 games including a stunning effort in the 4-1 victory over title rivals Arsenal last weekend.
As for Ingle she also helped Chelsea pick up all nine points available in the month as they saw off Reading and Bristol City before she also netted with a superb strike against the Gunners.
Manchester City’s Pauline Bremer has also been shortlisted after the German forward had another fine month in front of goal scoring 4 times twice against Tottenham Hotspur and Everton respectively.
Everton and September’s winner of the award Chloe Kelly is also nominated once again after she featured once and claimed the matchball after her hat-trick sealed a 3-1 win over Reading in Southport.
Liverpool goalkeeper Anke Preuß is the final nominee for the award after she helped Liverpool to a 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Bristol City and saved a penalty in the game keeping out Charlie Wellings.
Manchester City’s Nick Cushing, Arsenal’s Joe Montemurro and Chelsea’s Emma Hayes are up for the manager of the month awards.
Hayes saw her Chelsea side close the gap at the top of the table after 3 straight wins while Arsenal won 2 out of their 3 games after wins over Birmingham and Brighton before the Chelsea defeat.
Cushing has also witnessed his side pick up maximum points in January as they currently top the league after seeing off Everton, Tottenham and Birmingham.
