Chelsea Ladies have made four new signings ahead of the Women’s Super League in March, three of which represent their nations at international level.
New Zealand captain Hayley Moorwood joins Welsh internationals Helen Lander and Emma Plewa as well as former Millwall centre-back Sinead Boyer.
Central-midfielder Moorwood, who won Young Player of the Year back in New Zealand and was named Sportswoman of the Year in Auckland in 2005, captained her nation through the 2007 Women’s World Cup and the 2008 Olympics.
Lander joins Chelsea from Arsenal, where she won two League titles and the 2009 FA Cup, after beginning her career as a forward with Watford Ladies. Lander is a regular in Wales’ senior side and also represented England at Under 23 level.
Plewa played for Bristol Academy from the age of 16 and after four years there now joins Chelsea aged 20. The forward currently plays for the Welsh senior side having represented her nation at Under 19 level.
Boyer departed Millwall to join Chelsea, having already played for Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic, where she was 2007 FA Cup runner-up. Strong in the air and in a tackle, the centre-half will be a great addition to Chelsea’s back line.
