Chelsea Ladies FC have announced the signing of Sweden international Marija Banušić.
Marija Banušić is a 19-year-old forward who is considered as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe. Banušić made her senior international debut in November having impressed at youth level.
Banušić joins Chelsea Ladies from Swedish club Kristianstads DFF and will begin pre-season training with the London club later this week.
Marija Banušić commented on the Official Chelsea FC website: “It’s a great privilege to be able to join Chelsea Ladies and help such a big club challenge for titles. I can’t wait to join the team later this month and start my career as a Chelsea Ladies player.”
Banušić becomes Chelsea manager Emma Hayes’ fifth signing this winter having already added Gemma Davison, Millie Bright, Niamh Fahey and fellow Sweden international Hedvig Lindahl to her squad ahead of the FA Women’s Super League 2015 season.
Chelsea Ladies have also confirmed the news that Yuki Ogimi and Rachel Williams have left the club. Japan international Yuki Ogimi has completed a transfer to VfL Wolfsburg in Germany following 18 months with the club.
Rachel Williams, who joined in November 2013, leaves for FA WSL side Notts County.
