China squad announced to compete at the 2018 Algarve Cup

China has named its squad to participate in this year’s Algarve Cup 2018.

China are in Group A of the Algarve Cup tournament alongside the hosts Portugal, Norway and Australia.

There tournament will get underway on 28 February at Estádio Municipal de Lagos against Portugal. Check out the full Algarve Cup 2018 schedule.

The Algarve Cup will serve as part of China PR’s preparations for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, in which China are in Group A alongside the hosts Jordan, Thailand and Philippines. This is a crucial competition as will serve as the qualification for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

China’s opening match at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2018 is against Thailand on Friday 6 April at the Amman International Stadium, take a look at the full AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2018 Fixtures.

At last year’s edition of the prestigious Algarve Cup, China PR finished in 10th place having finished bottom of Group C behind Australia, Netherlands and Sweden before being defeated by Iceland 2-1 in the 9th/10th Play-off match.

China are previous winners of this tournament on two occasions in 1999 and in 2002. In 1997 and 2003 they were the competition’s runners-up.

The 2018 edition of the Algarve Cup will mark China PR’s twenty second appearance of the tournament!
