Newcastle United Women’s FC Support The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation
Play Football, have fun and help raise a lot of money for a great charity
The Robson Fives 2012 Football Tournament.
Sunday 1st July 2012
It’s only in its Fourth year and already the show of support for such a great man and the work his charity is doing has meant that this year’s preparations for the Robson Fives 2012 tournament is already well under way. The number of Women’s teams entering last year doubled and tournament organiser Ian Carr is looking forward to an even bigger event this year. Ian is very pleased with the way the tournament has developed during its short life and makes sure that every penny raised during the tournament will be go to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation to help support the vital work they are doing.
The cancer charity foundation set up by the late Sir Bobby Robson has now raised more than £3m. The County Durham-born former Newcastle United and England manager died in July 2009 after a battle with the disease. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, set up in 2008, works with scientists at Newcastle University to help develop cancer treatments. The charity focuses on the early detection of cancer and the development of new drugs to help beat the disease. Many people have already benefited from the work that the charity does and every fundraising event that takes place help put more money into this great work.
