Wexford Youths WAFC have secured a place in the Continental Tyres FAI Women’s Senior Cup Semi-Finals after edging past UCD Waves.
The Continental Tyres Women’s National League champions will be joined in the final four by Shelbourne U18 LFC, Peamount United, and Shelbourne Ladies FC with the games taking place in the week ending October 18.
Three of the quartet sealed their place in the next round on Sunday as Wexford beat UCD 4-2, Peamount claimed a 2-1 victory over Galway WFC, and Shelbourne U18 LFC won 4-0 against Castlebar Celtic in three gripping quarter-finals.
At Jackson Park, Will Doyle’s Wexford Youths team advanced courtesy of goals from Kylie Murphy (2), Ruth Fahy, and Carol Breen, while Aine O’Gorman netted twice for UCD.
Peamount United moved onto the next round after completing a late comeback against Galway WFC, who went ahead through Lynsey McKey, with Amber Barrett firing in twice.
Shelbourne U18s stunned Castlebar Celtic courtesy of a second-half hat-trick from Lisa Murphy after Megan Lynch opened the scoring for the Dublin side against their WNL opponents.
