Day 5 at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2016
Day 5 of the 2016 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup sees the crucial final round of Group A and B fixtures with teams battling it out to advance to the quarter-finals.
Spain and Mexico (Group A) are the only two teams who have already booked their place in the knockout stage of this competition, although when they meet on day 5 they will be playing for a top spot finish. Jordan and New Zealand are unable to progress from the group stage as they head into their final game, however both will be wanting to end their tournament on a high by earning their first win.
In Group B, there are still three teams who are in with a chance of booking their place in the last 16, Canada, Germany and Venezuela. The Canadians will take on Venezuela in which a point would be enough for them to advance, but Venezuela who have a chance of qualifying for the next stage with a win are expected to come out attacking. Germany must be careful not to take their opponents Cameroon for granted. The Africans cannot progress after losing their opening two fixtures but they could stand in the way of Germany.
