Demi Vance secures dream move to Rangers
Rangers Women have confirmed the signing of Northern Ireland International Demi Vance from Glentoran.
The midfielder helped the Glens to the Irish Cup, League Cup and County Antrim Cup as well as a third place finish in the league.
She has won 58 caps for her country so far and has proved to be a vital member of Kenny Shiels young revamped squad with her wealth of leadership and experience.
After an impressive season with the East Belfast outfit Vance was awarded the Women’s Player of the year by the Northern Ireland Football League.
Women’s and Girls’ Football Manager at Ibrox, Amy McDonald said: “We are thrilled to welcome Demi to the club. She is an excellent addition to this new look squad we are building and sets a brilliant precedent of the standard of player we are going to be bringing to the club in the coming months.
“As a Rangers fan all her life she will bring true passion to the squad and a real understanding of what it means to play for the club.”
Speaking to RangersTV after signing her contract, she said: “I am really excited, I think it is going to be an exciting season, it is a fresh start for me and it is a fresh start for Rangers Women as well and it is an exciting time to be here.
“I can’t wait to get started with everyone, I think it will be great. I think obviously with Greg coming in there is going to be a massive transition and I am really happy to be a part of it.
“I think it will be a bit surreal, playing with my friends in the street when I was younger I always used to wear Rangers kit, so to be playing professionally at the club is a dream
Vance has one eye on playing Champions League football as she finished by saying “First and foremost we want to win the league, I think that is what we are all striving for which is good because I think everyone has the same goal and we want to get to Champions League football.
“Obviously it is going to be a tough season ahead but I think with Greg’s ideas we can really get there and Champions League football is where everyone wants to play.”
Vance becomes the Gers first signing ahead of the new season where the new addition will pull on the Blue Jersey for the first time in January as pre-season commences.
The new campaign gets under way in February with Vance’s potential debut at home to Hearts on February 23.
