North Carolina Courage Forward Crystal Dunn Voted NWSL Player of the Month.
North Carolina Courage forward Crystal Dunn was voted the National Women’s Soccer League Player of the Month for the month of June of the 2018 NWSL season.
Dunn, 25, scored two goals and added one assist in June despite missing one game due to international duty to help lead the Courage to a 2-1-1 record – second best for the month – and helped to extend their first-place lead atop the league standings at 12-1-3 record.
The New Hyde Park, NY native scored two goals to propel North Carolina to a 4-1 win on the road on June 23 against the Seattle Reign FC at Memorial Stadium in Seattle. Dunn got her first goal in the 33rd minute and then added a second in the 70th minute to help seal the victory.
The U.S. international earned an assist by setting up forward Jessica McDonald for the club’s third goal of the night in a 3-0 win over Orlando Pride on June 30 at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla.
The University of North Carolina product finished the month with 13 shots, nine shots on goal, six tackles won, six interceptions and eight chances created on 183 touches.
It is the second time Dunn has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Month after being recognized in August 2015 while a member of the Washington Spirit. It also marks the first time a North Carolina Courage player has received the award.
The North Carolina Courage will return to action against Washington Spirit on Wednesday, July 11 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7 p.m. ET.
