Kenyan Women Premier League: Eldoret Falcons registers maiden win over Baringo Starlets
Visiting Eldoret Falcons picked their first win of the season as the Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL) kicked off on Sunday 15 May at Eldama Ravine Stadium in a Zone B encounter.
Falcons walked home with a 2-0 win over Baringo County Starlets with Fanuna Abdi opening the scores in the 29th minute before new signing striker Ascar Metto netting a second with only three minutes remaining on the clock to the last whistle.
The visitors, Falcons went into the match with plenty of experience following their participation in the top tier the previous two seasons compared to their opponents who earned a promotion from Division One league last season.
Falcons’ team manager however was not a happy man despite the win complaining about the condition of the pitch.
“We played according to the script but the pitch is not in a good condition to host premier league matches. There is need for an alternative playing ground for the home team because playing here will attract injuries to the players,” he said.
This was the only match played this weekend with other matches lined for Saturday 22 May in both Zone A and B.
