England squad announced for International friendlies against Italy and Austria

England squad named for the upcoming international friendly matches against Italy and Austria this month.

These fixtures will mark the final two home matches ahead of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 finals this summer.

In this squad, Birmingham City’s Jess Carter and Manchester City’s Mel Lawley have received their first international senior call-ups. Karen Bardsley, Jo Potter and Alex Scott are absent from the games due to injury.

England will play Italy on Friday 7 April (7.45pm local, KO) at Port Vale’s Vale Park and Austria at MK Dons’ Stadium MK on Monday 10 April (7.45pm local, KO).

Earlier today, Mark Sampson became the first head coach to announce his squad to compete at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 hosted by the Netherlands.

England face Scotland in their opening Group D game in the Euros, in Utrecht on 19 July, followed by Spain in Breda on 23 July and Portugal in Tilburg on 27 July. Here is the full UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 schedule.
