The English FAWSL 2014 season kicked off this week and it did not disappoint! We round up week 1’s Women’s Super League action.
The league officially kicked off on Wednesday 16 April as Birmingham City hosted Everton and Notts County took on Arsenal. Check out the day one round up. On Thursday, it was Liverpool v Manchester City and Bristol v Chelsea Ladies in action, here is the day two round up.
WSL Week 1 Matches
Birmingham City Ladies 0-0 Everton Ladies
Birmingham and Everton played to a 0-0 draw, despite the end to end action. David Parker had made a few changes with the younger players, perhaps in preparation for this weekend’s crucial UWCL semi-final match. Watch video highlights of Birmingham City 0-0 Everton Ladies.

Notts County LFC 1-1 Arsenal Ladies
Arsenal Ladies came from 1-0 down to draw 1-1 against Notts County. After Arsenal’s recent form and the amount of key players that transferred out of the club, questions are being asked about their aspirations. It was the Gunners that looked more in control in the second half and were unlucky not to go ahead when Kelly Smith’s free-kick hit the crossbar. The much anticipated contest between title holders Liverpool Ladies and Manchester City Women, who despite are new to the league, have made an impact building a strong title contending squad. A huge number of fans gathered to watch the opening matches of the Women’s Super League totalling over 5,000 people! The highest attendance was at Notts County who played hosts to Arsenal Ladies and attracted 1,583 to the stands.
