Jennifer Zietz  22’ (FFC Turbine Potsdam)

The FC Bayern Women have fought off stiff competition to win the Bundesliga Cup. Coach Thomas Wörle’s team beat Women’s Champions League holders FFC Turbine Potsdam on Saturday, midfielder Julia Simic scoring both goals in a 2-1 win to seal the FCB team’s first significant trophy in 35 years.

A crowd of 2,000 at the training facility on the Audi Sportpark site in Ingolstadt saw two evenly-matched teams battle it out in the 30 minutes each way final. The FCB Women matched the German champions and 2011 Champions League finalists for commitment and effort, and deservedly picked up the cup with two free-kick goals from Simic, sandwiching a contentious penalty by Jennifer Zietz.
