At the press conference for the Women’s Coach and Player of the Year. The FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year candidates Marta, Homare Sawa and Abby Wambach were joined by Bruno Bini, Norio Sasaki and Pia Sundhage, the three nominees for the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women’s Football award. Each person took turns to address the media.

Marta: “It’s a great honour to be here. It’s wonderful to be recognised in this way for the entire year’s work.”
Homare Sawa: “I’m delighted to be here. It was always a dream to win the World Cup, but the team exceeded even my expectations.”
Abby Wambach: “The only reason I’m here is bacause of a fantastic supporting cast. I’m lucky to have them. Thanks to them all.”
Bruno Bini: “I’m humbled to be here. It’s a tribute to the determination of the entire team and federation.”
Norio Sasaki: “Our result in Germany was particularly significant because of the events of the 11 March earthquake.”
Pia Sundhage: “I’m happy that people care about the women’s game. I believe we’re seeing the beginning of something special.”
