fifa womens world cup 2015

FIFA committee said Canada will break USA match attendance record

Sandy Gage of the FIFA organizing committee said they’re projecting this weekend, two full weeks before the end of the tournament to break the USA 1999 record attendance of 1,194,215.

The 2015 Women’s World Cup has been expanded to 24 teams from the traditional 16 an increase of 50% . That means total games have gone from 32 to 52, an 62.5% increase. Exciting elimination and medal games have gone from 8 to 16, an 100% increase.

Please FIFA we are all watching the Great games live on TV and for this we thank you and all the television companies who are broadcasting the greatest show on earth the Women’s World Cup. But I have to say to you Tickets Sold cannot be used to give you a match attendance figure. The meaning of the word Attendance is: The number of people present at a particular place or event. If you sold 30,000 tickets but only 3000 people turned up to watch the game, then the figure can only be 3000. You can and should only count the number of Fans who are in the stadium watching that game (say after 80 minutes of play).

These Match attendance figures do matter to a lot of people, Sponsors, Advertisers, Statisticians, and the Fans.

PS: Thank you to all the staff at FIFA, the Canadian Soccer Association and all the Players, Coaches, Volunteers and the Thousands of Fans who are helping to make this Women’s World Cup 2015 an Amazing Worldwide Event.
