South Africa (Banyana Banyana) Women’s National Team will play a international friendly match against Zimbabwe at Soweto’s Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday 12 April 2014.

This will be the first international match for South Africa with new coach Vera Pauw leading the team.

The match will be used as part of their preperations for the CAF African Women’s Championship qualifier against Comoros in May.

Portia Modise makes a return to the squad, the striker has been capped 104 times and scored one of the most memorable goals at the London 2012 Olympic Games. In case you have forgotten, here is a video clip of the stunning strike.

Former captain Simphiwe Dludlu also returns to the squad and could potentially earn her 50th cap should she feature in the friendly against Zimbabwe.

South Africa Women’s National Team players who are currently competing in women’s leagues overseas have been called up including Tsepiso Mokabane and Andisiwe Mgcoyi (FC Union Zamky / Slovakia), Ode Fulutudilu (US based) and Laura Du Ry (Netherlands based).

The last time these two sides met was in June 2013, which ended 1-1 at the Sinaba Stadium.

The Banyana Banyana squad recently took part in a training camp, that is set to continue this Sunday 6 April.
