Forfar Farmington sign Cliftonville defender Billie Simpson.
Billie Simpson has completed her move to Forfar Farmington from Cliftonville subject to international clearance. The Northern Ireland International defender arrive early February in Forfar.
Simpson has spent the last 4 seasons at the Reds and in that time has picked up many individual awards including Ulster Footballer of the Year, Northern Ireland Women’s Football Personality of the Year as well as Northern Ireland Premier League Player of the Year.
Simpson is also a pivotal player to the National team as she has won 12 caps so far in the green of her country.
She also rose to fame all over the globe as she was nominated for the 2019 Puskas Award alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and eventual winner Daniel Zsori after scoring a 60 yard volley against Sion Swifts.
Speaking to the club website Forfar Farmington head coach Ryan McConville said “ I am absolutely delighted to add the calibre of Billie to our squad and when I knew it was going to be possible to bring her in, I didn’t waste any time in tying her up. She is a highly sought after player in the NIFL Premier League and will be a massive addition to Farmington. I cannot wait to get started with her and I know on a personal level Billie will be keen to show what she is capable of in the SWPL1. I’d like to thank everyone at Cliftonville for making this a smooth transition. “
McConville is a very successful coach as he guided Linfield Ladies to numerous trophies in 3 seasons and to the women’s champions league for the first time in their history, he was also successful at Lurgan Ladies helping them lift a league title in 2019.
