Formiga set to retire from Brazil WNT after the International Women’s Football Tournament in December
Formiga will say farewell to the Brazil Women’s National Team this December.
Record breaking Formiga is currently taking part in her 6th Olympic Games, the 38 year old has won two Olympic silver medals with the Brazilian squad (Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008).
Last night Brazil were beaten on penalties by Sweden in the Rio 2016 Olympic women’s football semi-final, denying the hosts the opportunity to play for Gold.
Following Brazil’s exit, Formiga announced her plans to retire from the national team.
Formiga is one of the most hard-working players in the game today, exuding experience and seems to cover the entire pitch.
Formiga will continue to play at club level, she hopes for another couple of years.
