The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced that four players were selected off of the NWSL Waiver Wire, including midfielder Rafaelle Souza by FC Kansas City, forward Danesha Adams by Portland Thorns FC, and midfielder Joanna Lohman and goalkeeper Lydia Williams by the Washington Spirit.
Souza, Adams, Lohman and Williams were the only players chosen from the 12 available.
Souza, 23, made 16 appearances and six starts for the Houston Dash. In 507 minutes of play, she registered one assist for the expansion club. The Salvador, Brazil native’s lone assist came in the Dash’s first win in club history, a 3-2 victory over the Boston Breakers on April 20.
Adams, 28, made nine starts in 13 appearances for the Washington Spirit in 2014. The West Covina, Calif. native registered one goal and one assist in 802 minutes played on the season.
Lohman, 32, made 14 starts in 17 appearances for the Boston Breakers. In 1,231 minutes of play, the Silver Spring, Md. native registered one goal for the Breakers.
Williams, 26, started 14 games in goal for the Western New York Flash. The Katanning, West Australia native recorded two shutouts in 2014 prior to tearing her ACL while participating in the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup with the Australian Women’s National Team, an injury that ended her NWSL season.
