france-training

France will rule the women’s footballing World in the next three years.

The first time I watched France play was three years ago against England, during the UEFA Women’s EURO 2013 (which Germany won).

They won the match 3-0 and really captured my heart with their breathtaking football. Necib and Renard were the only names on my mouth. Anyway, I was so gutted when they were knocked out from the competition by Denmark. The only reason I decided to watch the match was because it was a women’s game and I do not get to watch and access them very much, the last and only time being the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2010. It is one of the best decision I have ever made till now. It has been all about the women’s game since then!

Apart from Nigeria, the French has always been my team, I have literally followed them since then, past and present. They are endowed with the most technically gifted players, old and new (Lavogez is really special). They can defend and score lot of goals, they have it all and the team would be easily picked as favourites in any match or tournament but unfortunately, haven’t won any major title.

France didn’t get to the Final at last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, again. The proclaimed best and golden generation of the country still could not manage it. But, I still think they have got what it takes to take one major step, and win the treble of cups, starting in RIO 2016.

2011 and 2012 was a case of mentality and physicality when it came to the tough games, 2013 and 2015 was just sheer bad luck and one of the greatest enemies of France, the penalty shoot-out.

The case of mentality and physicality has improved as they have finally secured a win against the USA and Germany. I think they still need to practice the PK more often, still they have it in them to go through matches without PK and I think they should focus on that. Scoring goals (which they are good at) and defending with focus (especially Bouhaddi).

They also need belief and the best players and tactics. They already have the perfect blend of old and young. Necib is nowhere good or influential in the wings as she is behind the striker. A 4-2-3-1 would suit her play, she is just like Ozil and I do not need to tell you how things turned out when he was put in his rightful place. Kheira should partner Henry in midfield with Abily introduced in each game, or maybe have a threesome midfield with the three of them, with Necib managed in the wings or benched/subbed. Lavogez/Majri and Thomas can play at the flanks with Le Sommer as the striker. I think Mbock Bathy should be introduced gradually to partner Renard. These few changes can be a difference.

I think this time, France is now ready to rule the world, if not for anything, to give Abily one major trophy before she retires (saw her cry at the World Cup and knew it could be her last).

With an experienced coach, best squad, Good luck and Abily; I know they are ready to rule the women’s game, first take Gold in the Rio 2016 Olympics, conquer Germany next year and with a country and myself behind them, win the World Cup in France to complete a famous treble.

They can start by beating the USA, Germany and the English in March…

Yeah, thanks. You gave me a great insight while I was writing it, I forgot to mention your name. I literally cried for England. France do deserve a title, I believe they have the luck now, and an improved and believing squad.

No need for mention at all! Yes, it was devastating for England, but it is also why similarly to France, I believe they too are potential title winners as they have had some unfortunate luck over the years and I think it is only a matter of time for things to fall into place for them.

Agree about France to, I am very impatient to see results of the four nations (she believes) cup in USA this March!!

Great blog Chibuike, I enjoyed reading it.
It’s like we were saying earlier, France have everything there to be the best, and I personally think they deserve a medal at a major tournament. Luck certainly does play a part as well during competitions, just look at England’s OG against Japan…
