USA v China International friendly 2014 on Women's Soccer United

USA will take on China PR on Sunday 6 April at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. (3 p.m. MT).

This will be the first international friendly match for both USA and Canada since the Algarve Cup 2014 tournament last month.

USA headed into the Algarve Cup as holders, but their performance was less than expected from the World’s number one ranked team and after finishing bottom of group B, they went on to beat Korea DPR in the 7th place play-off match.

China PR beat Denmark on penalties in their Algarve Cup placement match to finish the 2014 tournament in 5th place.

This match will mark the 51st time USA and China have played each other! The previous meeting was at the 2013 Algarve Cup in which USA won 5-0.

China will be using the two-match series against USA to prepare for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Vietnam – the tournament that will serve as qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015.

In the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Rankings, USA remain top for their sixth consecutive year, although Germany have closed the gap to just 24 points separating them. China have climbed to places and are currently ranked 16th.
