Germany squad announced for international friendly against Austria

Germany WNT head coach Horst Hrubesch names a 22-player squad for the international friendly match against Austria.

For the first international match since Germany qualified for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, they will host Austria who narrowly missed out on World Cup qualification.

Back in the squad is Lena Petermann (1.FFC Frankfurt) and Babett Peter (VfL Wolfsburg) who return from injury. After competing in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2018, midfielder Giulia Gwinn is called to the senior squad again.

Missing from the selection due to injury/illness are Melanie Leupolz (FC Bayern Munich), Lena Goessling (VfL Wolfsburg), Dzsenifer Marozsán (Olympique Lyonnais), Hasret Kayikci (SC Freiburg), Tabea Kemme (Arsenal), Laura Benkarth (Bayern Munich ) and Anna Blässe (VfL Wolfsburg).

Austria and Germany have met previously in 2016 when Germany earned a 4-2 home win.
