Greenwood called up to England squad.
Liverpool defender Alex Greenwood has been called into the England Women’s squad to face Wales and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Greenwood is a replacement for Chelsea’s Hannah Blundell, who has withdrawn from Phil Neville’s squad because of illness and returned to her club.
Full-back Greenwood has so far won 27 senior England caps, scoring two goals.
The 24-year-old was part of the SheBelieves Cup squad last month and will train with the rest of the squad in Southampton on Thursday evening ahead of the crunch meeting with Wales at St Mary’s on Friday night.
It was an initial shock when Greenwood wasn’t named in the squad to begin with but now she has time to impress New Lionesses manager Phil Neville in these two upcoming qualifiers.
