Happy International Women’s Day 2015
8 March is International Women’s Day, an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is Make It Happen, to encourage effective action to advance and recognise women.
This theme is something Women’s Soccer United can relate to. The creation of WSU broke down all the boundaries and restrictions at that time surrounding women’s football. People from all around the world worked tirelessly together to raise the profile and give recognition to all those involved in the sport we love. The results of which were truly inspiring and not only provided a platform to showcase the wonderful talent and commitment from the players, managers, and teams but also encouraged and connected girls and women who wanted to find a way to get involved.
With passion, dedication and belief we continued to fight for equality despite the many hurdles that kept being put in our way and although we have witnessed many improvements, we still find ourselves facing a daily battle.
Women’s football was banned… But it NEVER stop us playing.
Women’s football was ignored… So we continue to promote it LOUDER.
So, a very Happy International Women’s Day 2015! Keep on fighting, make it happen! Passion. Dedication. Belief.
The WSU Team bringing you news and updates from the world of women’s football.
