Historic boost for Norwegian women’s football OBOS becomes General Partner
OBOS becomes General Partner of the Top Series and contributes to a historic boost for Norwegian women’s football. The deal is worth 6 million NOK and additionally there’ll be money for specific projects to raise interest and professionalization
The EMDC has long been involved in Norwegian football, including as a league sponsor for the 1st division men, the OBOS league.
Now the housing construction team is also heavily involved in women’s football, and according to CEO Daniel Kjørberg Siraj, there are several good reasons for it:
“Firstly, we consider Norwegian women’s football in general and the Top Series especially as very interesting objects commercially. Through this sponsorship, we meet girls of all ages, including future workers and decision makers, which in the long term could strengthen OBOS’s market position. In addition, we have discussed the debate about women’s football in the Norwegian football family. Many actors have so far spoken warmly about contributing, but the specific measures have failed. Now OBOS does something concrete to shield the differences and correct the bias, “says Siraj.
The agreement is valid for five years from 1.1.2018 to 31.12.2022. In addition to providing excellent exposure opportunities for OBOS, the agreement contains a number of exciting projects that hopefully will increase the interest in women’s football as well as provide for girls who want to bet both football and work.
“In addition to the sporting, we want to help women who play football get an opportunity to combine football career and career careers. Therefore, we have an ambition to establish a trainee / mentor program that enables them to also get a career lift in cooperation with us in OBOS says Siraj.
– Gives the women’s football a huge boost
“This agreement will give women’s football a huge boost. The funds give us the power to speed up, but in addition, this is an important recognition of our commercial value, says CEO of the Serie Association for Women, Hege Jørgensen.
“Obtaining OBOS as a partner we feel particularly positive. We have seen how they work around the deal on the men’s side, and know that we now bring with us an actor who will participate and develop the product significantly. We are looking forward to address this cooperation, finishing Jørgensen
launches OBOS Superweekend
In the round 9 in 2018, the OBOS Superweekend will be launched in the Top Series. That is, this round will be played all the matches in Telenor Arena. In other words, this is the weekend of 26th and 27th of May, where 3 matches are played on Saturday and 3 matches on Sunday. Throughout the weekend there will be entertainment and activities for children and young people. The matches appear directly on the NRK.
Principal objectives of the agreement
The agreement emphasizes that the parties will develop closer strategic cooperation within the areas in which SKF and OBOS share common interests, as well as contribute to the development of girls and women’s football.
Important areas will for example be:
Help girls starting with football (age groups 6 to 10 years) meet their idols through activity from the Top Series and thereby inspire further participation in football.
contribute to strong club development of the Top Series
