Ho Chi Minh City International Women’s Football Tournament
Four Teams are set to compete in the Ho Chi Minh City International Women’s Football Tournament: hosts Ho Chi Minh City FC, Far Eastern University to represent the Philippines and the women’s national teams of Myanmar and Hong Kong. FEU earned the right to compete when they won the PFF Women’s Cup earlier in the year.
The Ho Chi Minh Football Federation were spurred to organize the tournament in preparation for the 2016 season of their women’s team. It was also meant to prepare the national team members of their squad (Kieu Trinh, Chuong Thi Kieu, Thuy Trang, Bich Thuy) for the latter rounds of Olympic qualification.
Federation President Tran Anh Tu stressed the need for a tournament like this, to give women’s football players the avenue to “raise their level”, and is determined to keep the tournament running for years to come.
Teams will play each other once from the 4th to 8th of November where the team with the most points after three matches will win the championship. Prizes will be handed out with the champion receiving a trophy and 5,000 USD. Consolation prizes will also be given out with the second-ranked team receiving 3,000 USD and the third-ranked team 1,000 USD.
