Jamie-Lee Napier signs for Chelsea

Chelsea Women have completed the signing of Jamie-Lee Napier from Hibernian. The Scottish International aged 19 has put pen to paper signing until 2021.

She signed for Hibs from Celtic in January 2018 and helped them win two SWPL Cups, the Scottish Cup, and reach the last 32 of this season’s Women’s Champions League.

Napier who can either play at full-back or as a winger was prolific infront of goal this season as she scored 22 goals in 33 appearances for Grant Scott’s side.

She was also named SWPL One player of the season as her form also lead to a first call up for the Scottish senior side in August for the Euro 2021 qualification clash with Cyprus.
Napier told the Chelsea website “It feels amazing to be a Chelsea player and I’m delighted to have signed my first professional contract.

‘From a young girl it’s been a dream and an aspiration of mine so I’m delighted that I’ve finally done it with such a successful club like Chelsea.’

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes added
“I’m delighted to have signed Jamie,’ Hayes said. ‘She is a really bright prospect coming from Scotland. Her personality, her hard-working spirit and quality will add something to our squad.

‘It’s important that we keep developing younger players and she is one we have identified for the future”.

Chelsea fans could get a first glimpse of their new signing alongside Sam Kerr who is also eligible to make her debut against Reading on Sunday January 5th.
