Janine Van Wyk signs for Glasgow City
Glasgow City have announced the signing of South African captain Janine Van Wyk ahead of their UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign restarting next month.
Van Wyk who captained her country at last simmers FIFA Women’s World Cup in France which was South Africa’s first ever appearance at a World Cup becomes one of the biggest signings in Scottish Women’s football history.
She is the most capped player in South Africa’s history as she has made 170 appearances for her country.
Van Wyk founded her own club, JVW, in South Africa eight years ago to help identify and develop women’s talent.
Her last club was Fortuna Hjorring but she had to leave the club in January due to injury.
She becomes the third new addition at Petershill Park as the club have already brought in Krystyna Freda and Zaneta Wyne.
