Kuala Lumpur: Goodwill Ambassador for the Asian Football Against Hunger Campaign Kathryn Gill believes every person and organisation should play a part in the fight against hunger.

The reigning AFC Women’s Player of the Year has said that the more support and resources are immobilised, the higher the chances of improving and hopefully eliminating hunger that Asians, including women, and their families face.

“Everybody needs to play their part, no matter how big or small,” she told The-AFC.com.

In an interview with The-AFC.com, the Sweden-based player has said she sees a similarity of traits between women’s’ footballers and women who provide for their families.

“It takes strong, determined and committed women to play the game,” she said.

“These are similar traits that are shared by the women who have to provide for their families. This is a great combination, which will help drive the campaign and ensure its success.”

Gill will be the spokesperson during the campaign to spread the message for 578 million hungry Asians on 14-16 October 2011 on the sideline of the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
