Kelsey Fenix wins WSU Community Coach Award (USA) Presented by TeamSnap
It is an honour to announce Kelsey Fenix as the winner of the WSU Community Coach Award (USA) Presented by TeamSnap for the fantastic job she does with her student-athletes on and beyond the soccer field.
Kelsey Fenix was nominated by the Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach at Liberty University, Kristin Eggert, who believes the newly named head coach does a fantastic job of working with her student-athletes beyond the soccer field.
Kelsey Fenix has a strong background in women’s soccer, a former University of Kentucky soccer player and former associate head coach at Lipscomb University she was recently named as the fifth women’s soccer coach in the history of the Trojan program!

Fenix brings to her role as a coach in women’s soccer the right mix of playing and coaching experience alongside a natural gift of relationship building skills and team vision.
Fenix took over the role as Trevecca Nazarene University athletic head coach from Mark Foster and has grasped the opportunity with both hands to continue to build the women’s soccer program.
Her work ethic, positive attitude and dedication does not go unnoticed. One of her missions is to encourage student-athletes to truly thrive and provide a community of people that supports every student-athlete toward growing in all areas of life: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

With a strong background both playing and coaching women’s soccer, Fenix has developed a great range of skills and people can easily relate to her. Kelsey’s impressive CV of playing and coaching experience is too long to list within this article but you can view full details here.
To summarise, whilst on the pitch Fenix played as a midfielder for the University of Kentucky from 2004-2007 and captained the 2006 SEC Championship Wildcat team. Among her achievements she earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2007 after earning 2006 ESPN The Magazine 1st Team Academic All-District recognition.
Fenix also played semi-pro for Charlotte Lady Eagles in the W-League!
Kelsey, who holds a USSF National “B” License, started coaching club soccer in 2007 and joined Lipscomb University coaching staff in March of 2012 before helping to lead Lipscomb to a first ASUN Conference Tournament in 2013.
At her previous role coaching with Kevin O’Brien at Lipscomb University, the inspirational coach played a part in achieving historic results.
The 2013 team reached the ASUN Conference Tournament for the first time. In 2015 they recorded a program best 12 wins and made their first appearance in an ASUN Final while going 6-1 in ASUN contests. 2016 nearly mirrored those results with a 12-5-2 record, 5-1-1 in ASUN play, and a second consecutive trip to the ASUN Finals!

Kelsey Fenix is a wonderful example of an excellent role model for young female coaches aspiring to get into collegiate coaching.
