1.FFC Frankfurt captain Kerstin Garefrekes will join Washington Spirit and compete in the National Women’s Soccer League for the summer.
Garefrekes will have an involvement in the NWSL whilst the German Women’s Bundesliga is on its summer break.
Washington Spirit are currently third in the NWSL, Kerstin could help the club reach the play-off final in August.
Kerstin Garefrekes, with 18 goals is the second-best goalscorer in the 2013/14 Bundesliga season. She will join former teammate Ali Krieger at Washington, who she played together with between 2007 and 2011 at 1.FFC Frankfurt.
Her NWSL debut could see her face another long-time teammate, Nadine Angerer! Washington Spirit will play Portland Thorns on 21 June.
