Mozambique athletics great Maria Mutola turns to football

 

 

Maria Mutola has put her glittering athletics career behind her and now at the age of 38 she is the captain of Mozambique women’s football team at the All Africa Games 2011. She now lives in the South African city of Johannesburg and turns out for Pretoria-based club Mamelodi Sundowns in the national women’s league, During her athletics career she had no fewer than 10 world titles (indoors and out) and Olympic gold in Sydney 2000.Mozambique are in the All Africa Women’s Football Tournament by virtue of hosting the games.

    1.30am CET. Will see how I feel at time. Don’t have very early start but game would be done at 3.15 am.

    Maybe if Sylvia Neid surprises me with the line up I may find myself too curious to miss. Will she throw on the youngsters, and how will they cope. Marozsan was very impressive (as always) on Saturday. Put lena Lotzen in front of her and there may be havoc.
