Anja Mittag joins VfL Wolfsburg from Paris Saint-Germain
Olympic Champion Anja Mittag is making the move back to the German Allianz Frauen-Bundesliga for VfL Wolfsburg from French club PSG.
The 31-year old striker, who recently won the Olympic Gold medal with Germany, has signed for VfL Wolfsburg until June 2018.
Mittag said on the club’s official website: “I am looking forward to return to my home country, and especially the new challenges here at VfL Wolfsburg… My aim is to integrate myself quickly and contribute to the team achieving its aims for the coming season. I am happy to be a part of this excellent side.”
In 2012, Mittag left the German club 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam to play for the Swedish champions FC Rosengard before joining the top French side PSG in 2015. At international level, Mittag has earned 144 caps for Germany, scoring 46 times! She has won the FIFA Women’s World Cup (2007), European Championship (2005, 2009, 2013), Olympic Bronze medal (Beijing 2008) and a Olympic Gold medal (Rio 2016).
