Nadine Kessler wins 2013/14 UEFA Best Women’s Player in Europe Award beating Wolfburg team-mates Nilla Fischer and Martina Muller.
Nadine Kessler topped the vote to succeed Germany goalkeeper Nadine Angerer, who won the inaugural award last year
Kessler was Captain of Wolfsburg as they won the UEFA Women’s Champions League and Frauen Bundesliga for the second year running. Kessler set up Müller’s late winner in the 4-3 UEFA Women’s Champions League final defeat of Tyresö FF in Lisbon.
Kessler received her award from UEFA President Michael Platini in Monaco. She said on UEFA.com: “It is a great feeling to win this award. I want to thank the team and the ‘team behind the team’ – this award is for everyone.”
