Washington Spirit beat Boston Breakers 1-0 in front of 3,578 fans at the Maryland SoccerPlex. Midfielder Joanna Lohman’s beautifully bicycle kick to give Washington Spirit a 1 – 0 win over the Boston Breakers.


Houston Dash 3 – 1 Chicago Red Stars

Attendance: 7,440

Houston Dash opened the 2016 NWSL season with a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Red Stars at BBVA Compass Stadium Saturday night in front of crowd of 7,440 fans, this was the first time the Dash had beaten the Red Stars in club history.
Christen Press scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute after she intercepted a heavy pass and beat Dash GK Lydia Williams at the near post. Rachel Daly levelled the game in the 22nd minute after a Chicago defender attempted to clear the ball. In the 51st minute Daly made a run to the edge of the six-yard box and delivered a cross to Carli Lloyd who headed the ball past Naeher. Janine Beckie scored the final goal of the game in the 53rd minute off a cross from Kealia Ohai. Beckie dribbled towards the centre of the 18-yard box and shot towards the far post for her first goal of the season.


Kansas City 0 – 1 Western New York Flash

Goals From:

Sam Mewis 72′ (Western New York Flash)

Attendance: 8,022

Sam Mewis scored the only goal by converting a penalty in the 72th minute after an unfortunate handball by FC Kansas City Team captain Becky Sauerbrunn
