New Zealand to compete at the Algarve Cup 2016.
During last night’s international friendly between Brazil and New Zealand it was confirmed that the Football Ferns will participate in the prestigious Algarve Cup tournament in March 2016.
The announcement makes the New Zealand Football Ferns the first team to officially confirm their involvement in next year’s competition.
It will be the first time since the tournament began that New Zealand will have competed in the Portuguese tournament. The Football Ferns have previously been regular participants of the Cyprus Cup which runs along the same dates.
In January 2016, New Zealand will compete in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifying matches against Papua New Guinea.
On confirmation of New Zealand Football Fern’s entry into the Algarve Cup in March, the team said it was a massive boost (& compliment) given strength of teams that attend.
