Newcastle United Women’s Football Club Reserves welcome Sheffield FC Ladies Reserves at Newcastle Pin Point FC Cowgate Sports Centre on Sunday. (2pm KO)

The two teams have already met twice this season and on both occasions Sheffield have taken the three points available.

NUWFC Reserves go into this fixture on the back of a convincing win against Newcastle University Women’s First Team in the NFA County Cup last Sunday and will be looking the make sure that the points stay on Tyneside. The cup tie saw a terrific team performance and a number of great goals and NUWFC First Manager Gary Appleton will be hoping the players continue where they left off on Sunday and once again give their ever growing band of supporters a terrific game to watch. Last weeks win also means that the NFA County Cup will be an all Newcastle night with both the First and Reserve teams making it through to the final.

NUWFC Reserve Team Manager Gary Appleton said “This week we welcome Sheffield Ladies Football Club to Newcastle Pinpoint FC, Cowgate Sports Centre, a fixture which hopefully we can build on after last week’s excellent performance in the County Cup. But we must guard against complacency and go into the fixture well prepared for a game which should prove to be evenly balanced given the recent games between the two teams and league positions. None of the players who trained on Tuesday have reported in with any injuries so we anticipate a full squad to choose from and will try to win the 3 points which would see us move to mid table for the final run in of a long hard season“

The NUWFC Reserves are enjoying the very high standard of football being played in the FAWPL this season and although the league means they spend a lot of time on Sundays on the road travelling to fixtures in the Midlands and North West, it definitely has been worthwhile. The Reserve team under the guidance of Manager Gary Appleton and Coach Adam Shaw have definitely grown and built into a strong and focused squad and are looking forward to continuing that commitment in the coming season.

NUWFC Reserve Team Captain Amy Perch said “Last week-end saw us take on Newcastle University in the Sagicor NFA County Cup Semi Final and come away emphatic winners. The score line for me was not important but the style in which the game was played and the spirit shown by the player’s optimised everything we have worked on this season. This year has been one of change for the Reserves but Sunday’s game demonstrated just how far we have come. Well done girls our spot in the final is well deserves. This week we take on a very handy Sheffield side, a fixture which has produced two good games already this season. I don’t doubt that if we take the same work ethic and confidence into the game as last week we can come away with three points.“

Sunday’s NUWFC ReserveTeam Match Ball Sponsor is Cheval Hair & Beauty – NUWFC would like to once again thank both Carl and Pam for their continued support.

yes, she does. I think I found it and am a bit surprised but it looks as though CONCACAF is going to live stream.
