NUWFC Goals Scored by Steph Eadon, Stacy Crooks (Pen)

Match Report by NUWFC First Team Manager, Michael Havelock

‘The game started slowly with the away side causing some problems for the home side. NUWFC struggled to adjust to the size of the pitch and didn’t really get started in the game until Mossley went ahead after a long range effort rebounded off the post and was headed home from close range. This kick-started the home team into gear and they began to play a little.

Soon after, Steph Eadon was played in and took the ball round the keeper and slotted home with her left to level the score. This gave us a lift and we began to play with confidence and belief that we can score and trouble any side. After a good move and a powerful run from Steph Eadon, she was brought down in the box for a penalty. Stacy Crooks stepped up and slotted home confidently to put us in the lead at the break.

The second half was scrappy with chances for both teams, including hitting the woodwork. The game was close and while the home team struggled to play there brand of football, they dug in and ground out an important result. Lessons must be learnt from this game if we are to continue our winning ways.”

NUWFC First Team Coach Warren Teasdale said ‘League titles are won and lost on games like today. We struggled to play our normal passing game on a very heavy pitch and the opposition made life very difficult for us. All credit to the ladies for digging in when it counted and coming up with the three points.’

Team, Wareham, Lock, Armstrong, S.Wilson,C.Wilson, Potts, Brooke,(Collinson) Stroyan (Blackburn) Foster, Crooks (Wilkes) Eadon.
