Nominees announced for 2014 Canada Soccer player awards

Canada Soccer has announced the list of nominees for its 2014 Canada Soccer player awards. Canadian media and coaches will be asked to select two players – one male and one female – for Canada Soccer’s top prize, the BMO Canadian Players of the Year award. The award will celebrate Canada’s top-two soccer players in recognition of their 2014 achievements with both the National Team and their respective club teams.

Voting for the 2014 BMO Canadian Players of the Year will be split evenly by Canadian media and Canadian coaches from across the country.

Voting will begin immediately and will conclude on Sunday 14 December 2014. Voters will be asked to select three players (first place, second place and third place) in each category. All six winners will be announced during the week of 15-19 December 2014.

Diana Matheson – Washington Spirit

Erin McLeod – Houston Dash

Sophie Schmidt – Sky Blue FC

Desiree Scott – Notts County

Christine Sinclair – Portland Thorns FC

Rhian Wilkinson – Comètes de Laval

Canadian U-20 Players of the Year:

Kadeisha Buchanan – West Virginia University

Janine Beckie – Texas Tech University

Jessie Fleming – London NorWest SC

Ashley Lawrence – West Virginia University

Nichelle Prince – Toronto Lady Lynx

Canadian U-17 Players of the Year:

Simmrin Dhaliwal – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite

Jessie Fleming – London NorWest SC

Sarah Kinzner – Calgary Foothills

Marie Levasseur – Haute St-Charles

Bianca St-Georges – Laser de Joliette

Sarah Stratigakis – Woodbridge SC
