NUWFC First Team Fixture Postponed

NUWFC Reserves away to Nottingham Forest

Newcastle United Women’s Football Club Reserves are on the road again this weekend when they travel to Nottingham Forest Ladies Football Club. The Reserve team had last weekend off following the postponement of their game with Derby County Ladies Football Club due to a waterlogged pitch and are looking forward to getting back into action on Sunday. Following their win over Stoke City Ladies Football Club a few weeks ago, which saw the Reserves play some of their best football this season, NUWFC Reserve Team Manager Gary Appleton and Coach, Adam Shaw, are looking forward to Sunday’s game. Nottingham are currently sitting top of the league having won seven out of their eleven games and the NUWFC team know that they will have to work hard against a strong and organised team if they are to leave with any points..

NUWFC Gary Appleton said “With the disappointment of last week’s postponed fixture against Derby County behind us, we are looking forward to Sunday’s trip to Nottingham. It just proves how all the players attitudes have changed towards wanting to play games and to prove not only to the club but to themselves, how a “bunch of players” only 6-8 weeks ago have put in the hard work to not only turn up twice a week for training but also to put in the graft to get fitter. They also want to apply what they are learning in training and take it into the weekend games. They are no longer just a “bunch of players” they are a TEAM, which are fitter, well organised and more determined and who now cannot wait for a Sunday to play the game, whether it is home or away. This team will do their best to put in a good performance”.

“This week we are again on the road to play Nottingham Forest Ladies. We did well against them last time we met but still did not manage to come away with any points with their strong midfield doing most of the damage. We have strengthened our own midfield of late and hopefully we can turn the result in our favour this time, but one thing Adam and myself are sure, that this team will put in a good performance and do all they can to take the points onto the bus back home with us.”

NUWFC Reserve Team Captain Amy Perch said “I’ll start with a big well done to our firsts for last weekend who continued their impressive run. The Reserves were left bitterly disappointed last week when our game was called off at the last minute. This week we’re back in action away at Nott’s Forest, a decent side by all accounts. Another big and important week on the training ground and hopefully we’ll continue on our unbeaten run in 2012. Fingers crossed for better weather in the Midlands this weekend”

Looks like a 4-0 win for the US, after a slow first half (1-0).
