Papua New Guinea win their fourth consecutive Pacific Games title

Papua New Guinea beat New Caledonia 1-0 to claim their fourth consecutive Pacific Games title in front of a strong home crowd at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.

Despite early chances for New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea were able to shut out their efforts and worked to keep their key playmakers out of the game.

The game plan was successful for Papua New Guinea who put on an impressive display in front of the home crowd and their persistent pressure on their opponents was rewarded as Marie Kaipu raced in on a fumble from Honorine Pouidja, and put the ball in the back of the net.

It would be the only goal of the match and saw Papua New Guinea win the Gold Medal at the Pacific Games 2015 and New Caledonia take home silver.
