Pia Sundhage appointed as Sweden Under-17 Women’s National Team Head Coach
The Swedish Football Association announced yesterday the appointment of Pia Sundhage as the new Women’s U-17 Head Coach.
Former Swedish Women’s National Team Head Coach, Pia Sundhage has a new challenge ahead after accepting the role of leading the national youth team.
Pia left the national team after the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 Championship in the Netherlands, in which Sweden advanced as Group B runners-up behind Germany but were defeated by the hosts in the quarter-final stage.
Before that, Pia led the National Team to the Silver Medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games!
There has been much speculation about the popular coach’s next step and now we have confirmation that Pia will remain working on the development of Swedish women’s football.
Sundhage is set to lead the Swedish U-17 Women’s National team at the World Cup which will be hosted at home in 2020.
Pia Sundhage will officially take the role on 1 January 2018.
