South Africa striker Portia Modise has announced her retirement from international football
The announcement of Portia Modise’s retirement from the South Africa women’s national team was made at the SAFA house in Nasrec.
Portia Modise is the first African footballer to have scored over 100 goals for her country! The striker is now intending to pursue a coaching qualification.
The SAFA president Danny Jordaan revealed that Modise will also be engaged as a brand ambassador for South African football.
Portia Modise won the South African Sports Star of the Year Award last year, beating top competition from some of the country’s most talented sportmen such as cricketer AB de Villiers and swimmer Chad Le Clos.
