They’ve just announced both the name – Portland Thorns FC – and Crest for the new team in the new league. I love it, it fits with the Portland Timbers but still has its own identity. Portland is known as the “Rose City”, which is where it comes from. The “Timbers Army” also has a “P-T-F-C” chant which will also work with this team. Hope we’ll get information about the other teams and league name soon. Can like them on Facebook or Twitter for support. I’m going to for all the teams until I pick one haha.

Yeah @Ken and Gromit – Maybe its the inconsistency that is having a negative affect. If Norio could introduce the young players within the experienced side rather than one extreme to the other?

Yes, New Zealand have introduced new strategy that focuses on their youth, and also they have a long-term plan that is aimed at developing the women’s game at club and International level. The Football Ferns to me have always looked a tough opponent, in fact in more cases than not I am often thinking they were unlucky not to get the win. Certainly a nation to watch for the future!

I know, hopefully soon. The Portland Timbers blog, which has a section for the Thorns now, posted an article that it’s rumored to be “Women’s Professional Soccer Association.” Not much different.

I wish they’d move Sky Blue to Fordham’s football field in the Bronx rather than Rutgers, maybe capitalize on the large population in NYC.

@A-Hamm, and I wonder what the new league will be called.

You’re welcome. So it looks like: Portland Thorns, Washington Spirit, FC Kansas City “Blues”, plus Chicago Red Stars, WNY Flash, Boston Breakers & Sky Blue FC from WPS. That just leaves nameless Seattle left.
